My idea for this project is to continue with the “ hidden geode rock “ idea of having a mock up paper mashay type rock filled with rocks.
Documentation of rocks and my favorite ones/where I found them/ documentation of what type of rock they are.
Theme:
Im not sure what type of theme this would create, I think the plaque would help it stand on its own.
Pictures to help aid me:
Paper mashay rock example (With paint and all they can look pretty realistic. Bing Videos
Plaque example: I could DIY it somehow. I like the idea of raised or engraved letters (do we have a laser engraver here?)
Display option (creating a curved shelf with paper)
Or randomized
How it will be done:
Securing the rocks down to the inside with double sided tape or velcro so the display is solid but can be removed .
Peep hole or a cellophane type sheet that you can peer into maybe even cool to put some lights in there somehow.
Documentation and commentary (Could be done by more QR codes to a site or just paste of commentary on the inside walls of the dyernama,)
I really want to make a interactive element without having people having to pick up the rocks and mix up the display so here are a few I’m considering:
I’m tempted to include my rock book in a nook so it can be pulled out for people to help look and identify
Maybe even a plaque saying something along the line of look at the rock around you and identify all you can
QR code Link to spotify song I am a rock. I could either include the lyrics too or ask people to bring their headphones with… and phones. (This way it hits the interactive element I was hoping for . I would just put this QR code on the outside of the rock.
Could even include some candy rocks for people to take and eat but that may be a little bit wild and things may start melting
Site location:Here's a picture of my ideal spot
I hit the jackpot because I found this sort of accident. It's between Slug and Wartch, and the place I would put the display would be right at eye level! My main concern was having it placed on the ground but this way it would still be integrated around rocks and people could stand around it in a sense.
I was unsure if I could carry the display with me and place it at the site or what? I am worried about people messing with it otherwise. Or maybe if I leave a note, I'm not sure if I will need permissions.
